Give to The Connor Group challenge today for Zach

Zach Meredith should have been enjoying the first, lazy days of summer vacation in June 2011. Instead, he was exhausted and battling a cough that he just couldn’t shake. Never did his parent’s think that this cough would end up leading them to a cancer diagnosis.

After visiting Dayton Children’s urgent care and emergency department, Zach was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common form of childhood cancer.

Faith in God and the support of family, friends and neighbors helped the Merediths tremendously—and in the midst of every heart-wrenching, difficult day was the staff at Dayton Children’s. “We could have taken Zach to Cincinnati or even St. Jude’s, but we never regretted our decision to stay at Dayton Children’s,” says Zach’s dad, Bill. “The doctors and nurses just had a bond with Zach, and they kept our spirits up, too. It sounds crazy, but we really felt like we were home when we were there.”

It’s for kids like Zach that Dayton Children’s exists. Along with benefiting from amazing doctors, nurses and other caregivers, Zach and other patients benefit from the generous donations given to Dayton Children’s every year. These donations help purchase lifesaving equipment and build comforting care spaces for kids to heal. They have helped us exist for nearly 50 years and donations to the Reaching New Heights campaign are helping us exist for kids for generations to come.

Committed to helping our hospital reach new heights in pediatric care and transform care for kids like Zach, local business, The Connor Group, has been matching every dollar pledged to our “Reaching New Heights” campaign up to $1 million since last summer.

To date we are only $30,000 away from reaching the $1 million challenge before our new patient tower opens in June! Now YOU are invited to join in on this challenge.

Between now and May 31, every dollar you give will be matched dollar for dollar!

Your gift will enable us to create the best spaces for providing life-saving care to our region’s most critically ill infants, children and teens.

Today, Zach is cancer free and is looking forward to enjoying his summer break with his friends and family rather than in the hospital.
